After a successful debut season, Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Denmark is ready for a new season, in which the fastest esports driver must be found. The official Danish championship in digital motorsport will in 2021/2022 be decided over eight sections on the world’s best virtual racetracks.

– Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Denmark made a fantastic debut last year and developed through the season into a popular and exciting TV-broadcast championship, which ended with a magnificent live event. Motorsport has always been an important part of Porsche’s DNA, and by moving forward in virtual motorsport, we are taking part in the rapid technological development that permeates not just racing, but mobility as a whole. At the same time, with Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Denmark, we have had the opportunity to interact with a young and incredibly dedicated tech-oriented target group, says Ann-Sophie Dam, PR and Marketing Manager at Porsche Denmark.

Like the international Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup, the Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Denmark will be held on the iRacing platform, and the championship will take place in collaboration with the esport agency ESR. For the second season in a row, there is a fight for a total prize pool of 100,000 DKK and as something new, it will now be mandatory to line up as a Team. The drivers must be 13 years of age and have an iRacing C license as well as an iRating of at least 3,500. Each Team must also be managed by a team leader.

– Motorsport is a team sport where the whole team around the driver contributes to the result. It seems that all levels of motorsport, from karting to Formula 1, and the same is true in virtual motorsport, where good coaching and effective analysis help to create the best results. Therefore, we now developed the championship with more focus on the team and make it mandatory to participate as a team. With this, we raise the level and at the same time improve opportunities to associate sponsors, both for the teams and for the individual drivers, says Managing Director at ESR, Thor Alexander Qualmann.

The second season of Porsche Esports Carrera Cup Denmark will bring together a field of 12 teams and 24 drivers, who will compete for the championship trophies over eight divisions for races. All sections are broadcast on TV 2 SPORT with live studio and commentary, while the final ones are held as a live event with spectators. There is a fight for a drivers’ championship, a team championship and a U18 championship for drivers under 18 years of age. All courses will be announced before the start of the season in November.
